The world teaches us to look for opportunities that will advance our portion in life. But to those who follow not after the teachings of Christ, they will not see when good comes to them. “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh;” (Jeremiah 17:5,6).
The Bible teaches us as believers to look for opportunities to do good. If we have this world’s goods that we should give to those in need and to hope for the good for all people and not just ourselves. If we wish evil upon others, it will eventually turn and be a curse unto us.
Galatians 6 reads:
9. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Being good comes from understanding the will of God. It is a fruit of the Spirit that we must not forget to exercise. Having the gift of prophesy, or healing, or a strong sense of faith is useless if we do not have love in our hearts for others and the hope that all things work for their good also. We must walk as Christ walked.
Jesus performed miracles of healing, casting out of demons, and other powerful deeds, but he always used those things to help other people, not as a cloak of boasting or in any wise evil toward others. He never threatened to use his power to harm others but only warned others to do as He did.
Acts chapter 10 reads:
10. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Never forget to do good toward others and to hope for good things in their lives. It is counted as a blessing toward you, by God. The opportunity to do good always comes so please take advantage of it.
